The Airport Jets will take on the Tecumseh Indians on Saturday. The last three games Airport has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Wednesday just wasn't the day for Airport's offense. They fell just short of Woodhaven by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Jets have suffered since May 7th.
Meanwhile, Tecumseh came tearing into Thursday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Royals. Considering the Indians have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kennedi Fulton looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Emma Eldred was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and one stolen base while going 3-for-5. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lauren Kilbarger, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.
Tecumseh kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Tecumseh pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Airport, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 23-8.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Airport hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Tecumseh struggles in that department as they've averaged .407. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
