Softball Game Preview: Mar Vista Mariners vs. Coronado Islanders

The Mar Vista Mariners will take on the Coronado Islanders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Mar Vista heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Wednesday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mission Bay.

Meanwhile, Coronado suffered their biggest loss since April 11th on Wednesday. They lost 11-2 to Brawley.

Jersey Cunningham made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one run. Another player making a difference was Izzy Guymon, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Mar Vista's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-12-2. As for Coronado, their loss dropped their record down to 16-11-1.

Mar Vista skirted past Coronado 2-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mariners since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
