Baseball Game Preview: Monticello Panthers vs. Minisink Valley Warriors

Monticello hasn't had much luck against Minisink Valley recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Warriors at 4:15 p.m. Monticello has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Monticello's offense. They lost 12-0 to Cornwall Central on Thursday. The loss leaves the Panthers still looking for their first win of the season.

Monticello saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mikey Schnitzer, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. That hit was Schnitzer's first of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Minisink Valley was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They came up short against Monroe-Woodbury, falling 13-1. The matchup marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Minisink Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Monticello might still be hurting after the 27-11 loss they got from Minisink Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
