Softball Game Preview: Oxford Wildcats vs. Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks

The Oxford Wildcats will face off against the Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Oxford earned an 8-5 win over Adams.

Lilly Strauss spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Madilynn Heller, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Bloomfield Hills had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They blew past the Bears 11-1. Considering the Black Hawks have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Bloomfield Hills' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Oxford, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6-1.
