Football Recap: Sweetwater Takes a Loss

Sweetwater lost against Seminole back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mustangs were outmatched by the Indians and fell 58-7. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 573rd, while the Indians are ranked 208th).

When it comes to explaining why Sweetwater lost, don't look at Jose Quintero. Despite the final result, he rushed for 71 yards and one touchdown.incredibly, Quintero got all that yardage with just one huge run

Dominick Higgins had an outrageously good game for Seminole as he threw for 303 yards and five TDs. Those 303 passing yards gave Higgins a new career-high. Logan McCormick was another key player, gaining 64 total yards and three touchdowns.

This is the second loss in a row for Sweetwater and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for Seminole, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Looking ahead, Sweetwater will be playing at home against Estacado at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Seminole, they will venture away from home to take on Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians will need to watch out since the Patriots have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
