It's playoff time, and Reagan had no trouble coming through when it counted. They slipped by the Mooresville Blue Devils 32-31 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Raiders also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.
It was another big night for John Evans Jr., who rushed for 266 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 61 yards. Reagan also got help from Eli Davis, who showed off his sure hands for 108 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Reagan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 336 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 245 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.
Reagan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Keston Greene and Seven Glover. Another thorn in Mooresville's side was King Kalama, who picked up 1.5 sacks and made nine total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Reagan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.8 points over those games. As for Mooresville, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-3.
Looking ahead, Reagan will square off against Grimsley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Raiders 14.2, the Whirlies 12.3) so any points scored will be well earned. Mooresville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
