Basketball Recap: Marhianna Johnson Key Part of a Team Effort in Lions Win

Vernon won the last time they faced Bowie and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Vernon Lions walked away with a 48-40 victory over the Bowie Jackrabbits. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Vernon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Marhianna Johnson led the charge by going 7 of 11 on her way to 18 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Key'Maria Mcbride, who posted nine points along with eight steals and six boards.

Vernon's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-7. As for Bowie, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-9.

Vernon will host Iowa Park at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Vernon is facing Iowa Park at the right time seeing as Iowa Park is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Bowie, they will venture away from home to challenge Henrietta at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
