Football Recap: Crestview Comes Up Short

Crestview lost against Kirtland back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cougars were beaten by the Hornets 42-7. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 369th, while the Hornets are ranked 29th).

Crestview's loss came despite strong showings from Liam Kuhn and Karter Goon. Kuhn rushed for 37 yards and one TD, while Goon picked up 99 receiving yards. Kuhn also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making eight total tackles and defending one pass.

Leading Kirtland to victory were John Silvestro and Jake Laverde. Silvestro rushed for 121 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries, while Laverde rushed for 108 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries. That's the most rushing yards Silvestro has posted since back in October of 2024.

Crestview's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Kirtland, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Crestview has already played their next contest, a 28-14 win against Keystone on the 5th. As for Kirtland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 44-24 victory against Perry on the 5th.
