Pine Creek has gone 9-1 against Doherty recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Eagles will challenge the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. Pine Creek will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Pine Creek is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Lewis-Palmer, who was ranked tenth at the time (Pine Creek was ranked 12th). The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Rangers on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since April 7th.

Aiden Wilson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Javier Jackson was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Kyle McDonnell, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs.
Meanwhile, Doherty entered their tilt with Smoky Hill on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Buffaloes by a score of 8-4.
Like Pine Creek, Doherty also got a great game from a two-way player: Derek Graham. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Graham was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dominick Morelli, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Doherty: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-9 otherwise. Aharon Enriquez was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Doherty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Pine Creek pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Doherty, their record now sits at 11-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pine Creek has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Doherty struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Pine Creek skirted past Doherty 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
