The Lutheran West Longhorns will venture away from home to take on the Kirtland Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lutheran West has given up an average of 14.1 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Emerson 'Emmy' Hayes was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Kirtland never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Beachwood on Tuesday. They never let the Bison get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Bison recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Gracie Svigel tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Grace Mastrangelo was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Karli DiFranco, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Kirtland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Lutheran West's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Kirtland, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 6-9.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lutheran West hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .424. However, it's not like Kirtland struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lutheran West suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Kirtland when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Longhorns avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
