Northridge had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They skirted past the Calera Eagles 30-27.

Jaylin McCray went supernova for Northridge, rushing for 200 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Rowdy Christensen was another key player, throwing for 58 yards and two touchdowns.

Northridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 346 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calera only rushed for 97.

When it comes to explaining why Calera lost, one person who can't be blamed is Antorious Johnson. Despite the final result, he rushed for 38 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 250 yards on 16 of 26 attempts. A healthy portion of that aerial production (120 yards to be exact) went to Cameron Hagler.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northridge will head out to challenge American Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Calera, they will venture away from home to take on Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Calera will come in still looking for their first win of the season.
