Football Recap: Pearsall Mavericks vs. Cotulla Cowboys
Pearsall was the 27-14 winner over Cotulla when they last played one another back in August of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Pearsall Mavericks were dealt a 41-6 defeat at the hands of the Cotulla Cowboys on Friday. The Mavericks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jose Gonzalez was nothing short of spectacular for Cotulla: he rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Medina, who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Pearsall now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Cotulla, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Pearsall will face off against Poteet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pearsall is facing Poteet at the right time seeing as Poteet is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Cotulla, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Nixon-Smiley at 7:00 p.m. on September 27th.
