Baseball Recap: Greenhill's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Greenhill extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 7-13 in the process. They had just enough and edged out the Oakridge Owls 4-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for Oakridge, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-11-1. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.67 runs.

For Oakridge's part, they got a good showing from Ryder Windham, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Windham also tossed no walks, which is notable because the Owls are 5-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-10-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Oakridge saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Piero Figueroa, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenhill will square off against St. Mark's at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oakridge, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Fort Worth Country Day at 6:00 p.m. The Falcons will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something the Owls surely won't give up without a fight.
