Goshen Central has gone a perfect 8-0 against Monticello recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Gladiators will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 4:15 p.m. Monticello took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Goshen Central, who comes in off a win.
Goshen Central is headed out to face Monticello after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. The Gladiators skirted past Kingston 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Gladiators have posted since April 19, 2024.

Addison Freiberger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over 7.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Marley Northrup was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Olivia Jordan was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Monticello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Beacon.
Like Goshen Central, Monticello also got a great game from a two-way player: Ryleigh Schoonmaker. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Schoonmaker was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Taylor Crumley led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Reiley Schloicka, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Goshen Central took their victory against Monticello when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 19-1 score. Will the Gladiators repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
