Basketball Game Preview: Greenhill Hornets vs. Kinkaid Falcons

Greenhill is 0-3 against Kinkaid since February of 2015 but things could change on Saturday. The Greenhill Hornets will take on the Kinkaid Falcons at 12:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Kinkaid will be up against a hot Greenhill team: the squad just extended their winning streak to 13. Greenhill really took it to Dallas Thunder for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-38 victory. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while Dallas Thunder are ranked 396th), the result two weeks ago wasn't entirely unexpected.

Greenhill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Diya Jain led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. Jain has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Vivian Franklin, who went 6-for-11 en route to 15 points in addition to eight assists and seven boards.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Kinkaid walked away with it. They blew past the Mustangs 83-55 on Friday. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Greenhill's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-7. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.2 points over those games. As for Kinkaid, their win bumped their record up to 28-10.

Greenhill lost to Kinkaid on the road by a decisive 56-38 margin in their previous matchup back in February of 2019. Can Greenhill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
