Basketball Game Preview: Lanier Longhorns vs. Chattahoochee Cougars

Lanier is 0-4 against Chattahoochee since December of 2014 but things could change on Tuesday. The Lanier Longhorns will challenge the Chattahoochee Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Lanier has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Lanier turned things around against St. Francis on Monday. They secured a 69-64 W over the Knights.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chattahoochee). Everything went their way against South Forsyth on Saturday as Chattahoochee made off with a 79-55 win. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the War Eagles are ranked 317th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chattahoochee has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Lanier, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-8.

Lanier couldn't quite finish off Chattahoochee in their previous meeting back in November of 2020 and fell 78-75. Can Lanier avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
