Baseball Game Preview: Hammond Morton Governors vs. Hammond Central Wolves

The Hammond Morton Governors will square off against the Hammond Central Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hammond Morton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

Hammond Morton came into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Merrillville by a score of 7-5 on Monday. The Governors have struggled against the Pirates recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Hammond Central couldn't beat Hammond Academy of Science & Tech on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Wolves lost 13-5 to the Hawks. The Wolves just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Hammond Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dashaun Turner, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. D'Angelo Pina also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Hammond Central's loss dropped their record down to 9-18-1. As for Hammond Morton, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-16.

Hammond Morton beat Hammond Central 12-7 when the teams last played on Wednesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Governors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
