Basketball Recap: Academy of Richmond County Takes a Loss

After flying high against Hephzibah last Friday, Academy of Richmond County came back down to earth. The Academy of Richmond County Musketeers were beaten by the Baldwin Braves 69-26 on Tuesday. The Musketeers haven't had much luck with the Braves recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Academy of Richmond County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being NaCja Johnson, who posted seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Butler, who earned eight points.

Baldwin got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Suri Clark out in front who went 12 for 13 on her way to 24 points and eight rebounds. Janaye Walker was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Academy of Richmond County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Baldwin, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Westside the next time they take the court. Academy of Richmond County will head out to face Westside at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Baldwin will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
