Basketball Game Preview: Miami-Yoder Buffaloes vs. Monument Academy Lynx

The Miami-Yoder Buffaloes will square off against the Monument Academy Lynx at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Miami-Yoder was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 56-52 to Wiley. The Buffaloes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Miami-Yoder got top-tier performance from Gavin Howard, who went 10-for-21 on his way to 25 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Howard has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Bernhart, who put up 11 points.

Meanwhile, Monument Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against Denver Academy of Torah, falling 70-32. One positive for the Lynx, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Monument Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Miami-Yoder, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.

Everything came up roses for Miami-Yoder against Monument Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 59-18 win. In that match, Miami-Yoder amassed a halftime lead of 40-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
