Softball Recap: South Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

South picked up another tournament win on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Mendota Aztecs.

Sienna Lopez and Scarlett Lopez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Lopez tossed four innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Scarlett tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sienna has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Lopez scored two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances, while Scarlett scored a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, London Terrance was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Zowey Estrada, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

South's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-8. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Mendota, they moved to 4-15 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South will face off against Mira Monte at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mendota, they will challenge Avenal at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
