Basketball Game Preview: University Trojans vs. Sage Hill Lightning

The University Trojans will square off against the Sage Hill Lightning at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. University is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

University is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since November 30, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Portola by a score of 59-56.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Sage Hill's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were beaten by Irvine 66-37. While losing is never fun, the Lightning can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Vaqueros are ranked 117th).

Sage Hill's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 12-7. As for University, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-15.

University came up short against Sage Hill in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 88-81. Can University avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
