Thousand Oaks was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Newbury Park on Thursday. Thousand Oaks blew past Newbury Park 9-3. Considering the Lancers have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Samantha Case spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Olivia LePage was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Faith Goldfield, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

LePage wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Thousand Oaks kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive games.

Thousand Oaks pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Newbury Park, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-6.

Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Thousand Oaks will square off against Oxnard at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday up 123 places (34 vs. 157). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Thousand Oaks 3.1, Oxnard 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Newbury Park (ranked 166th) will meet Calabasas (ranked 912th) at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
