Basketball Game Preview: Mattoon Greenwave vs. Brownstown/St. Elmo Bombers

The Mattoon Greenwave will take on the Brownstown/St. Elmo Bombers in a tournament on Friday. Mattoon is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Mattoon saw some tournament action on Saturday. They were outmatched by St. Anthony and fell 54-25.

Meanwhile, Brownstown/St. Elmo humbled Greenville with a 54-26 victory. The Bombers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's win came from a few key players Mattoon will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Presley Williams, who posted seven points in addition to ten steals and seven boards. Those ten steals gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addie Sasse, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 11 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Brownstown/St. Elmo and bumps their season record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points over those games. As for Mattoon, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
