Basketball Game Preview: L.E.A.D. Academy Lions vs. West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors

The L.E.A.D. Academy Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.

On Friday, L.E.A.D. Academy had to suffer through a 71-44 loss at the hands of Rocky Bayou Christian. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Meanwhile, West Florida Baptist Academy waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They took their game with ease, bagging a 65-37 victory over the Rams. Given the Conquerors' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 349th in Florida, while the Rams are ranked 786th in Alabama), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

L.E.A.D. Academy better keep an eye on Shepard Brown. He was instrumental in West Florida Baptist Academy's win, going 10 of 16 en route to 24 points along with six boards and five assists. That's the most assists Brown has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Wiggins, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

West Florida Baptist Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

L.E.A.D. Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for West Florida Baptist Academy, their record is now 21-4.

L.E.A.D. Academy might still be hurting after the 60-39 loss they got from West Florida Baptist Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wiggins, who went 8 of 12 en route to 20 points and five steals. Now that L.E.A.D.
