Two dominant signal callers in Marlyn Smith and Savoy Nichols are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Ellison Eagles will welcome the University Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Ellison is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 59-13 win over Rudder. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-7.

Kae'Andre Sayles was nothing short of spectacular: he picked up 212 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He is becoming a predictor of Ellison's success: when he posts at least two receiving touchdowns the team is 3-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Juan Ramirez was another key receiver, picking up 124 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Ellison didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Rudder to a completion percentage of just 46.9%. The team can thank Mbaye Ndoye for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Ellison; they were averaging 59.9%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three contests they've fallen to only 59.9%.
Ellison didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Zayondre Crable, Diondre Bell, and Ndoye picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, University had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past the Cubs 42-14. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 24 points or more this season.
Ellison better keep an eye on London Smith. He was instrumental in University's win, picking up 171 receiving yards and three TDs.
One reason for the win was University's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Khylen Estelle, Ronald Derrick, and Micah Sorrels, who each picked up one sack apiece. Jeremiah Green was another major factor on D, making ten total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Ellison's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for University, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Ellison has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 461 total yards per game. However, it's not like University struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 399.3 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
