Basketball Recap: Flint River Academy Comes Up Short

Flint River Academy had lost four straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 0-4 to make it five. They took a blow against the Windsor Academy Knights, falling 56-18. The Wildcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Knights from their previous meeting back in February.

Mason Jones and Cole Riner certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Jones posted 12 points and seven boards, while Riner had four points and six rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Jones now owns an excellent 42.9% three-point shooting accuracy.

As for Windsor Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. That 38 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Windsor Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Santiago Medina, who went 5-for-10 en route to 11 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Medina has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryant Davis, who shot 67% from the field to rack up 12 points.

Flint River Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 63-30 loss against Twiggs Academy on the 12th. As for Windsor Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-46 defeat against Piedmont Academy on the 13th.
