Softball Game Preview: Halls Red Devils vs. Maryville Red Rebels

Halls is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Maryville is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Red Devils will host the Red Rebels at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Halls 1.1, Maryville 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Maryville's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: Halls hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Red Devils didn't even let Karns on the board on Saturday, marking the Red Devils' second-straight 2-0 shutout. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Beavers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Emery Bales made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 21 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Bales wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mackenzie Baker, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Maryville and Farragut meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Red Rebels fell 5-1 to the Admirals.

Maryville's defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Halls, their victory bumped their record up to 30-6-1.

Halls came out on top in a nail-biter against Maryville when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Red Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Rebels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
