Softball Game Preview: Batesburg-Leesville Panthers vs. Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans

The Batesburg-Leesville Panthers will challenge the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Batesburg-Leesville 3.7, Ridge Spring-Monetta 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Batesburg-Leesville and Fox Creek, and Fox Creek kept the tradition alive. The Panthers fell just short of the Predators by a score of 11-9 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Ridge Spring-Monetta had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Stallions as they made off with a 16-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Riley Burgess was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Zoe Ford was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

Ridge Spring-Monetta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Ridge Spring-Monetta's win bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Batesburg-Leesville, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.

Batesburg-Leesville was able to grind out a solid victory over Ridge Spring-Monetta when the teams last played back in March of 2025, winning 9-4. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
