Preview: Trumann Wildcats vs. East Poinsett County Warriors
Trumann is 4-0 against East Poinsett County since November of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The pair will round out the year against one another at 4:00 p.m. at. Trumann comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 54-27, which was the final score in Trumann's tilt against Pocahontas last Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Trumann in their matchups with Pocahontas: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, after only 23 points in their last contest, East Poinsett County made sure to put some points up on the board against Lee on Tuesday. East Poinsett County really took it to Lee for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-12 victory on the road. That looming 61-12 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for East Poinsett County yet this season.
Kyla Harston continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Keandria Johnson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Trumann's defeat was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8. As for East Poinsett County, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Trumann beat East Poinsett County 38-31 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Trumann since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
