Baseball Game Preview: New Paltz Huguenots vs. Red Hook Raiders

The New Paltz Huguenots are taking a road trip to challenge the Red Hook Raiders at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. New Paltz's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Red Hook's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Things were looking good for New Paltz after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Goshen Central by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Huguenots couldn't push the score so high this time.

New Paltz saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Maiale, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, Red Hook hadn't done well against Wallkill recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Raiders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raiders have posted since April 10th.

New Paltz's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Red Hook, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
