Softball Recap: Eastwood Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Eastwood came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Maumee Panthers by a score of 5-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-5 back in April.

MacKenzie Hady spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jenna Lubash, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Addison Bowe, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Eastwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maumee only posted a batting average of .160.

Eastwood pushed their record up to 20-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Maumee, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-11.

Eastwood and Maumee are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Eagles will square off against Swanton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Eastwood's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Maumee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southview at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
