            Berkley won the last time they faced Athens and things went their way  on Friday too. The Berkley Bears walked away with  a   50-43  win over the Athens Red Hawks. Given the Bears' advantage  in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings  (they are ranked 179th, while the Red Hawks are ranked 393rd), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.

 Berkley got their  victory on the backs of several key players, but it was  Hailey Kirkwood out in front who  posted 11  points in addition to seven  rebounds and six  assists. Kirkwood also  grabbed six  steals, which is notable because Berkley is 10-1 when she posts  at  least  three  steals, but 3-6 otherwise.  Veah Green was another key player,  dropping  a double-double with 13 points and 12  boards.
