Currituck County lost to Manteo last Tuesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. Currituck County had just enough and edged out Manteo 10-9. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Knights as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Amelia Cervantes, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Kori Belangia also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Cervantes wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Currituck County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. Currituck County is 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Currituck County now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Manteo, they moved to 8-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Currituck County will square off against Nansemond River at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Manteo, they will take on Pasquotank County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pasquotank County has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.25 runs per game on average), something Manteo will no doubt try to take advantage of.
