Baseball Preview: Stanton Blue Devils vs. Fernandina Beach Pirates

The Stanton Blue Devils will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Fernandina Beach Pirates at 6:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Stanton suffered a rough 10-2 loss at the hands of Paxon School For Advanced Studies.

Meanwhile, Fernandina Beach entered their tilt with Bishop Snyder with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Nathan Patrick looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Sam Simonds picked up the save, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (he also only allowed one walk).

At the plate, Caden Hartman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI. Xavier HuttonCorp was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Stanton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Fernandina Beach, they pushed their record up to 6-4 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.

Stanton might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from Fernandina Beach in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Thankfully for Stanton, Cole Perkins (who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (he also didn't allow any walks)) won't be suiting up this time.
