Baseball Recap: University Prep Pumas vs. King's Knights
University Prep came out on top against King on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Pumas had just enough and edged out the Knights 5-4. For the Pumas, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.
Hawthorne Moody spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Owen Bradley was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of University Prep's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Cole Waterman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
