Softball Preview: New Life Academy Eagles vs. St. Croix Lutheran Crusaders

The New Life Academy Eagles will head out on the road to take on the St. Croix Lutheran Crusaders at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The pair are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

New Life Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 15-3 margin over Schaeffer Academy. The high-scoring effort was just what New Life Academy needed considering they were shutout in their previous matchup.

Ashlyn Croon made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Croon was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, New Life Academy got a massive performance out of Kaitlin Fischer, who scored three runs and stole two bases. Another player making a difference was Claira Sanders, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Everything went their way against St. Croix Prep as St. Croix Lutheran made off with a 23-12 victory. Considering St. Croix Lutheran has won three games by more than ten runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

New Life Academy's record now sits at 4-1. As for St. Croix Lutheran, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
