Softball Preview: Andrew Thunderbolts vs. Lincoln-Way West Warriors
The Andrew Thunderbolts will head out on the road to face off against the Lincoln-Way West Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Andrew will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Richards on Saturday. Andrew was the clear victor by a 13-7 margin over Richards.
Andrew got a massive performance out of Maddie Hanik, who went 4-for-5 with a home run, five RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Mataia Lawson, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with a home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Lincoln-Way West came tearing into Saturday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Spartans 15-1.
Andrew has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-2-1 record this season. As for Lincoln-Way West, they pushed their record up to 9-5 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
