Baseball Recap: Lower Moreland Takes a Loss

Lower Moreland extended their losing streak to seven on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-10 in the process. They lost 9-0 to the Upper Moreland Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 on Monday.

As for Upper Moreland, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-5. Considering they have won eight games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Upper Moreland's part, Colson Campbell tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over six innings pitched. Campbell has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Patrick Kilgus, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Lucas Zipper was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

While Lower Moreland had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
