Baseball Recap: Chatham Cavaliers vs. Appomattox County Raiders

Chatham had lost six straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-17 to make it seven. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Appomattox County Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 on Tuesday.

As for Appomattox County, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

For Appomattox County's part, Owen Chavis looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Chavis has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kaden Rogerson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
