Softball Recap: Washburn Pirates vs. Hancock County Indians

Washburn had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-4 to make it ten. They came up short against the Hancock County Indians, falling 16-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-2 on April 1st.

As for Hancock County, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-4. Considering they have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Hancock County's part, Calyn Seal was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Seal was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Hancock County got a massive performance out of Kylee Bailey, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Payton Lawson, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.

Washburn has already played their next matchup (against Pigeon Forge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Hancock County, they will head out on the road to challenge Thomas Walker at 5:00 p.m. on the 1st. The Indians are facing the Pioneers at the right time seeing as the Pioneers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
