Baseball Recap: Meridian Comes Up Short

Meridian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Shelbyville Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 back in April.

Dan Enlow was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. Zander Thomas was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meridian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Shelbyville, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Meridian will square off against Sullivan at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Shelbyville, they will take on Mattoon at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
