Baseball Recap: Decatur Victorious

Decatur got themselves on the board against White River on Monday, but White River never followed suit. They skirted past the Hornets 2-0. While the Golden Gators didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Dylan Reano was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Reano was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other pitching news, Hunter Buol tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Reano wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Pech, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Those two hits gave Pech a new career-high.

Decatur's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for White River, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

Decatur will have a chance to go back-to-back against White River: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
