Baseball Recap: Springville Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

Springville won against Mortimer Jordan on Saturday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Springville Tigers beat the Elmore County Panthers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Carter Samuelson tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Jake Conner was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Sean Nichols was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Springville's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Elmore County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springville will venture away from home to square off against St. Clair County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elmore County, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers take on the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Elmore County: 4, Shelby County: 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
