Softball Recap: Wallenpaupack Area Has No Trouble Against Scranton

While Wallenpaupack Area put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Scranton. The Buckhorns blew past the Knights 17-0. The Buckhorns have beaten the Knights the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Knights has come to flipping the script.

Clara Babyak made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Wallenpaupack Area got a massive performance out of Madison Haynes, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave Haynes a new career-high. Kailyn Kielbasa was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Wallenpaupack Area kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive matchups.

Wallenpaupack Area's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Scranton, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.
