The Campbell County Camels are taking a road trip to face off against the Scott Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Campbell County 3.5, Scott 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Campbell County's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Pendleton County 7-0. The victory continues a trend for the Camels in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won five in a row.
Scott not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 26th (when they won 17-0). They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over Cooper. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Trevor Pulsfort made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Scott let Jonas Foltz and Blake Groneck run wild. Foltz went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Groneck went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave Groneck a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carson Bleha, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Scott kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Campbell County's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-9-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Scott, their record is now 11-8.
Scott's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Campbell County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. It's a different story for Scott, though, as they've only averaged .362. Will they be able to contain Campbell County's hitters?
Campbell County took their win against Scott in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 20-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Camels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
