Volleyball Recap: Gulf Coast Has No Trouble Against Riverdale + How To Watch

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Gulf Coast had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Riverdale Raiders. The Sharks haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Gulf Coast never let Riverdale on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-19, 26-24, 25-19.

Gulf Coast found their leader in sophomore Andreya Karakosta, who had 12 digs and one assist. Those 12 digs set a new season-high mark for Karakosta.

Gulf Coast was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. They are a perfect 19-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

Despite the loss, Riverdale still got an impressive performance from Natalie Grant, who had nine digs and one assist. Arlenis Pereda also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Gulf Coast's win bumped their record up to 22-5. As for Riverdale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-13.

Looking ahead, Gulf Coast is taking a road trip to face off against Lourdes Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Riverdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
