Softball Recap: Pleasant Grove Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Pleasant Grove had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They never let the Lone Peak Knights get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 14 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Keslie Draney made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, Pleasant Grove got a massive performance out of Maya Parry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Parry a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maile Larsen, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Pleasant Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lone Peak only posted an OBP of .250.

Pleasant Grove pushed their record up to 21-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Lone Peak, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Pleasant Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lone Peak, they are taking a road trip to square off against Corner Canyon at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Knights are facing the Chargers at the right time seeing as the Chargers are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
