Football Game Preview: Peru Nighthawks vs. AuSable Valley Patriots + How To Watch

The Peru Nighthawks will head out on the road to square off against the AuSable Valley Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Peru is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Peru gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They snuck past Saranac Lake with a 27-23 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Nighthawks' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Red Storm are ranked 393rd).

Peru's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Blaise-Smith, who rushed for 147 yards and a pair of scores. Those 147 rushing yards gave Blaise-Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Frechette, who rushed for 63 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Peru was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 249 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 201 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

Another reason for the win was Peru's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Trent Taylor, Caleb Starke, and Landon Wilkins, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask AuSable Valley). Everything went their way against Ticonderoga on Saturday as they made off with a 42-22 victory. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Patriots considering their ten-point performance the matchup before.

Peru's record is now 6-0. As for AuSable Valley, their record now sits at 2-4.

Everything came up roses for Peru against AuSable Valley in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 41-8 win. In that game, the Nighthawks amassed a halftime lead of 34-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
