The Shafter Generals will take on the Monache Marauders at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. Shafter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Shafter's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on McFarland with a sharp 15-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Generals.
Nini Garcia made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Joaquin Garza and Jesiah Rodriguez did most of the damage at the plate: Garza got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Rodriguez went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. Rodriguez is becoming a predictor of Shafter's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Andy Gomez, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Shafter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Monache sidestepped Mt. Whitney for a 7-5 victory.
Aaron Leyva looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
On the hitting side, Brandon Correa was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Hudsen Watts, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Monache's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Shafter, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Shafter might still be hurting after the 13-0 loss they got from Monache in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can the Generals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
