Softball Recap: Georgetown Day Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Georgetown Day won the last time they faced Connelly School of the Holy Child and things went their way on Thursday too. The Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers were the clear victor by a 20-2 margin over Connelly School of the Holy Child. The Mighty Hoppers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by ten runs or more this season.

Natalie Ogden made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Ogden was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Georgetown Day got a massive performance out of Tatum Mach, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run was Mach's first of the season. Avery Snyder was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Georgetown Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .758. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Georgetown Day's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.2 runs over those games. As for Connelly School of the Holy Child, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Georgetown Day will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Stephen's & St. Agnes at 4:15 p.m. on April 8th. One thing working in Georgetown Day's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. Connelly School of the Holy Child also won't see the field for a while: their next game is against Episcopal at 4:15 p.m. on April 1st.
